A Morning Routine that Actually Boosts Productivity

(Inspired by The Miracle Morning)

If you’re tired of waking up already feeling behind, you’re not alone. Mornings can set the tone for your whole day, and when you start in chaos, it usually stays that way. One of the most helpful approaches I’ve found is Hal Elrod’s Miracle Morning method. It’s simple, it’s repeatable, and it creates momentum that carries into everything else you do.

The idea is to begin your morning with a set of intentional habits that wake up your mind, body, and spirit. These small actions stack into a day that feels calmer, clearer, and more productive.

Here’s how you can ease into it, even if you’re a new mom or your mornings tend to be unpredictable.

1. Silence

Start with a few quiet minutes. You can pray, breathe, or just sit still before everyone else wakes up. This helps you settle your mind instead of jumping straight into notifications or to-do lists.

2. Affirmations

Write or read a few sentences that remind you of who you’re becoming. Keep them honest and personal. This is a great time to anchor yourself in truth and speak life over your day.

3. Visualization

Picture the version of yourself you want to grow into. Imagine how she handles her schedule, her energy, her mindset, and her goals. Let that guide how you show up today.

4. Exercise

This doesn’t have to be a full workout. Stretch, walk around the block, or do a quick five-minute routine. Moving your body early wakes up your brain and improves your focus for the rest of the morning.

5. Reading

Spend a few minutes with something that expands you—Scripture, a devotional, or a book that supports your goals. Even one page a day adds up over time.

6. Scribing
Journaling helps you clear mental clutter. You can jot down gratitude, prayers, a brain dump, or what you want to accomplish that day. Keep it simple.

How to Make This Work in Real Life

You don’t need an hour. You don’t need perfection. You just need a few quiet pockets where you set the tone instead of letting the day run you. Even a condensed version—one minute for each step—can shift your energy and help you step into the day with more focus.

Over time, you’ll notice you’re calmer, more productive, and way more intentional about where your time and energy go.
